Sir Bertram Mackennal

Sir Bertram Mackennal (1863-1931) was an Australian sculptor born in Fitzroy, Victoria. However, he grew up in Hornsby, New South Wales. He gained international recognition for his artistic skills and became one of Australia's most eminent sculptors. His notable works include the sculpture of King George V in London's Westminster Abbey and the tomb of the Australian soldier known as "The Digger" at the Australian War Memorial.

Margaret Preston

Margaret Preston (1875-1963) was a renowned Australian artist and one of the country's leading modernist painters. She was born in Port Adelaide, South Australia but spent a significant part of her life in Hornsby. Preston was known for her use of bold, flat colors and her exploration of indigenous Australian art, often incorporating Aboriginal motifs in her work. Her contribution to Australian art earned her national and international acclaim.

John Williams

John Williams (1932-2013) was a highly respected Australian composer and conductor. He was born in Melbourne but grew up in Hornsby, New South Wales. Williams composed scores for numerous notable films, including the Star Wars saga, Jaws, Indiana Jones series, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, and Jurassic Park. With five Academy Awards, four Golden Globe Awards, and several Grammy Awards, he was one of the most successful and influential film composers of all time.

Tony Lockett

Tony Lockett, also known as "Plugger," is a former Australian rules football player. Lockett was born on March 9, 1966, in Ballarat, Victoria. Although not originally from Hornsby, he relocated to the area after retiring from his playing career. Lockett is considered one of the greatest full-forwards in the history of the Australian Football League (AFL). He held the AFL goal-kicking record for many years and was inducted into the Australian Football Hall of Fame in 2006.

Michelle Bridges

Michelle Bridges is an Australian personal trainer, author, and television personality. She was born on October 20, 1970, in Newcastle, New South Wales. While not originally from Hornsby, Michelle Bridges lived in the area during her childhood and teenage years. She is best known for her role as a trainer on the Australian version of the reality TV show "The Biggest Loser." Bridges has also written several books on health and fitness, inspiring millions of people to adopt a healthier lifestyle.
